Myleene Klass went public about her lingual brace treatment back in 2010 whilst she was presenting on the ITV daytime show This Morning. Myleene’s smile still continues to grace the nation but who would have thought that prior to this she had been wearing lingual braces for 5 months?Unlike conventional orthodontic braces - inside lingual braces are completely invisible as they are not visible or attached to the front of the teeth. They are suitable for adults and children alike as they can help align buck teeth and close gaps with the ability to fix anything from minor to major irregularities in tooth alignment. Many celebrities from fashion designers such as Sadie Frost to TV presenters like Steve Jones have benefited by having their teeth straightened by lingual orthodontics and braces.

The article highlights the benefits of using the AcceleDent system with correct orthodontic treatment. At Walpole we specialise in reducing the treatment time of orthodontic cases. Led by specialist orthodontist Sharon Orton-Gibbs, we were one of the first orthodontic practices in the UK to use the hi-tech AcceleDent orthodontic device and have used it in many orthodontic cases to supplement patient’s treatment programmes.
Invisalign, Simpli5 and other "near invisible" systems
Demand for invisible and near invisible braces amongst adult patients remains high. We offer Invisalign and other near invisible braces as well as the Incognito lingual system. As a trend we are seeing an increasing number of patients that are looking for these treatments by brand. However it is extremely important to educate patients in these discrete systems and there are many benefits to using these as part of a correct orthodontic treatment program. Having presented my AcceleDent findings to my colleagues at the British Orthodontic Conference back in September last year I also had the opportunity to discuss my clinical experience at the French Orthodontic Conference in Paris which took place last November; and more recently in front of colleagues at the Croydon Orthodontic Study Group.
Safely speeding up treatment with AcceleDent
Since introducing the AcceleDent system into the practice back in November 2010 we have now successfully used this device on over 80 patients. We all know that the time to complete comprehensive orthodontic treatment can be off-putting to some. By using the AcceleDent appliance it means that your patients can get the results they deserve with a reduction in the length of their treatment time. Our experience has been generally positive and Sharon’s research shows that predicted treatment times are generally reduced by between 32% and 38%. Walpole appoints new manager
