We understand a fast and competitively priced option just to improve the front teeth can be attractive. Inman aligners and “six month smiles” have been marketed extensively by general dental practitioners who attend a two-day course before using either of these appliances.

6 month smiles

“Six month smiles” are a proprietary name given to clear fixed braces stuck to the front top or bottom teeth to line these up (accepting the current bite and positions of the back teeth). This can be a good option in some situations. A Specialist orthodontist is the best person to confirm this treatment will work for you and undertake treatment to ensure that the teeth stay in their new positions, and the gums and teeth are kept healthy. That means you have the reassurance of knowing that your money and time are safely invested.

Inman Aligners

Inman aligners are fairly bulky removable braces which can be difficult for adults to tolerate, especially as they often make adults lisp. They are usually provided by general dental practitioners after a 2 day course in how to use them. In my experience, there are much more comfortable and effective ways of straightening crowded front teeth. Here at Walpole – The Orthodontic Specialists, we have better options, which are more comfortable and effective, and can be just as fast.

Coupled with this, you will have the reassurance of knowing that you are being treated by an Orthodontic Specialist rather than a general dentist after a 2 day course. The specialist qualification is not handed out after a 2-day or two-week course but after at least three years of full time training leading to Masters Degree and Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in the Specialty of Orthodontics. This means that specialists have a much more detailed understanding of how best to straighten your teeth, so that the teeth will to stay in their new positions, whilst keeping the gums and teeth healthy. That means you have the reassurance of knowing that your money and time are safely invested.
